Homeowners Protest Property Tax Increases

cbs2chicago.com--Hundreds of Chicago homeowners are protesting the latest round of property tax increases, saying their most recent reassessment notices will tax them right out of their homes.

The property owners who were protesting are from Lakeview Township, a property taxing district that includes much of the North Side from Lincoln Park up to Rogers Park.

They spoke out Tuesday night at a meeting at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The property owners say they want lawmakers to extend a 7 percent cap on assessment increases that was put in place a few years ago.
